I believe degrees and certifications should not limit someone from getting out there and trying different things. People evolve, their priorities and interest evolve.

From early on, i was really into marketing and research. I always felt that it was one aspect which was highly underrated, at least that was the case in Nepal. For me marketing is not only restricted in selling, but it begins with the inception of product- the idea; and ends with the demise of the product. During my final year of my Bachelors degree, I got to concentrate in Marketing and its principles. I was introduced to courses like Retail Management, Brand Management and Consumer Behavior Analysis. The last one, consumer behavior, really got my attention as it evolved around studying consumer behavior, creating patterns and forecasting their movements. The concept of Data, and how it can be used in marketing got me interested and I started to study about the loyalty programs and other behavior studies that companies use to monitor consumer behavior.

Working as a Marketing and Sales manager,  I implemented this technique in market segmentation. I would use the customer data from the local market and segment my market accordingly. I would go through the Age Groups, Popular Brand List and charts showing the emerging markets. This is the reason I opted to learn more about data, data analysis and visualization. Therefore I shifted from BBA Marketing to MBA Computer Information Systems.

I am a recent graduate from West Texas A&M University - Canyon, TX. I know its not A&M University, College Station; but not everything is a great fit for everyone. When choosing my University I was looking for a Great Business School, Affordable Cost of Living and Basically a Great Experience. That's what made me decide on WTAMU and I am a proud Buff. Go Buffs!
